ROBERT BURTON
Bob was born in Indianapolis, IN in 1942. He attended school in Indianapolis and entered the US Navy in January 1961. Bob received an honorable discharge in 1964 and was awarded the “Outstanding Recruit” at boot camp and a commendation from the USS Eltanin while serving as a radioman and watch supervisor at Kodiak, AK. Bob also holds an Honorable Discharge from the US Coast Guard as a reserve.
Bob graduated with a double major in History and Psychology and a BA from the University of Washington in 1970. Bob spent 38 years in commercial property management, leasing, maintenance, construction and sales. He also has worked in nearly every kind of commercial property including high and low rise office buildings, strip shopping centers, enclosed malls, single family homes, apartments, mixed used properties, marinas, HUD subsidized apartments, industrial buildings and other properties.
Bob held two professional real estate designations, a Certified Property Manager (CPM) and a Real Property Administrator (RPA). He spent 23 years teaching at Washington State and nationally on courses in property management. He was a court appointed receiver for numerous distressed commercial properties and was an expert witness in court actions.
Bob has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Renton Eagles, Renton Lions Club and the Manufactured/Mobile Homeowners of Washington (MHOA). Bob volunteers as the organizer of the Center’s semi-annual indoor yard sale and serves on the VCC Board of Director as Secretary and past Treasurer and serves as the Board’s Grant writer.
